Family, Farm, and Flowers: The Farmer’s Florist Story
In 2018, Julia Pursehouse, began her floristry journey, selling succulents and working in a local florist. Inspired by trends in Sydney and the growing demand for dried flowers like cotton and wheat, she realised these materials were readily available at Breeza Station. Soon, she was harvesting and distributing her homegrown crops to local florists, and The Farmer’s Florist was born. The name came naturally, inspired by a moment on the veranda, watching her husband James in the paddock while she arranged her crops—The Farmer and the Florist.
As the business grew alongside her family, Julia balanced motherhood, farm life, and her creative passion. Through Instagram, she connected with customers and florists, showcasing the beauty of the Liverpool Plains. Today, The Farmer’s Florist offers stunning floral creations and engages with the community through workshops and The Plains business group, allowing customers to experience farm life and the art of dried flower arranging.
What started as a simple idea has blossomed into a thriving business, celebrating the charm of sustainable, locally sourced florals while reflecting Julia’s love for creativity, family, and the land she calls home.
